I ask that general business notice of motion No. 523, standing in my name and in the name of Senator Barnett for today, proposing an order for the production of documents on the report of the National Preventative Health Taskforce—which was handed to the Rudd government on 30 June 2009 but not publicly released, and parts of which have since been leaked in a piecemeal fashion, presumably by the Rudd government—be taken as a formal motion.

Is there any objection to that motion being taken as formal? There being none, I call Senator Cormann.

I, and on behalf of Senator Barnett, move:
That there be laid on the table by the Minister representing the Minister for Health and Ageing, no later than 12 pm on Thursday, 20 August 2009, the report of the Government’s National Preventative Health Taskforce as received by the Government on 30 June 2009.
Question agreed to.

by leave—The government opposed the motion as outlined. We did so on the basis that the majority clearly lies with the vote for the motion, given that the opposition and the Greens were voting on that motion. I point that out to indicate that there is a majority therefore in the chamber for the motion.
