I move:

That the Senate—

(a)

notes the continued suspension of processing asylum claims from Afghan nationals, which is due to end on 9 October 2010; and

(b)

calls on the Government to immediately lift its suspension of Afghan asylum applications, restoring the right of people seeking protection from persecution to have their claims assessed in a fair and timely manner.
