I draw to the attention of honourable senators the presence in the chamber of the Speaker of the New Zealand House of Representatives, the Rt Hon. David Carter. Mr Speaker is accompanied by the Clerk of the House of Representatives, Ms Mary Harris. On behalf of all senators, I wish you a warm welcome to Australia and, in particular, to the Senate.
With the concurrence of honourable senators, I would ask the Speaker to take a seat on the floor of the Senate.
Honourable senators: Hear, hear!
The Rt Hon. David Carter was then seated accordingly.
