This motion is not consistent with the vote of the Australian people at the referendum in October last year. It's incumbent upon this house to keep faith with the referendum result. We'll reject all attempts to entrench the separatism and division that was at the heart of the Voice proposal. This house should be focused on delivering real outcomes for our most marginalised people.

The question is that general business notice of motion No. 558, standing in the name of Senator Cox, be agreed to.
