I move:
That the Senate—
(a) notes that:
(i) order for the production of documents no. 538, agreed to by the Senate on 26 June 2024, relating to Services Australia and speechwriting services, has not been complied with, and
(ii) the Minister representing the Minister for the National Disability Insurance Scheme and Minister for Government Services (the minister) stated in response to the order that it 'would be a significant undertaking to search, identify and compile the expansive material being requested';
(b) rejects the grounds that the minister has provided as to why the order cannot be complied with, noting that:
(i) a 'significant undertaking to search' for the documents that are the subject of the order is not a recognised ground for a claim of public interest immunity, and
(ii) the minister did not indicate a date by which the order could be complied with; and
(c) requires the minister to comply with the order by no later than midday on 6 September 2024.
Question agreed to.
